Stayed 11 days in Dec, 2015
Our family of 9 adults and 4 children had a family Christmas at The Kona Reef.
This is a great location for diverse interests. One can walk to restaurants, shops, pubs, and the farmer's market.
It is well located for highway access, a 10minute drive to grocery stores, and is situated on the wonderful shoreline giving spectacular views from the lanai.
D33 was the condo we (2 adults) stayed in. It has recently had a comprehensive renovation.
The lanai is the most beautiful place---it has an overhang to help shade, the crashing surf just below is mesmerizing, we were always entertained with surfers, cruise ships passing, and several dolphins went jumping and swimming by one morning
The pictures on the website don't totally show just how nice this condo is
The Kona Reef and all staff we had dealings with were so helpful, we felt like we were truly welcome.
Snorkel Bob's ---7 minute walk was used by all families
Beaches---Hapuna a favorite for sand and kids, Kahuluu beach Park for snorkel, White Sands beach---Place of Refuge, they swam with dolphins
Did the Splashes snorkel tour on Zodiac boat--
Several members swam with the Manta Rays---they recommend taking the 5 pm tour
We did a drive to Volcano, the Lava tubes very impressive--- a must stop is Black Sands beach, there were 9 large turtles sunning themselves on the beach, and to make that trip easier we stopped at Punaluu Bakery in Naalehu on the way down for bakery treats and on the way home for Ice Cream. Make sure to buy some Punaluu Sweetbread to take back to your condo to make the most delicious French Toast
D33 had everything we could possibly need for our stay---such a well stocked new kitchen---Impressive!
Beach towels, boogie boards, folding chairs for beach, coolers---enjoy!
Thank Kona Coast Vacations, and Roger, you made the booking, planning and getting the most from our vacation, so easy.
