Beautiful Oceanfront Condo Steps from Beach - complete remodel Jan. 2014

Welcome to paradise. Our recently acquired 2 bedroom, 2 bath, 1161 sq. ft. condo is completely remodeled as of Jan. 2014 and ready for you to enjoy. The large 25’ lanai puts you incredibly close to the water. You’ll love the oceanfront dining and relaxing, where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner while watching the fish, dolphins or sea turtles dance in the waves and see the whales during season. The lanai is fully covered, with a Hunter ceiling fan for your comfort, and is your own private place to see the incredible Kona sunsets.

The sliding glass doors and screens in the living room slide back entirely into pockets, opening up the living room and kitchen to the lanai and oceanfront view. The lanai overhangs the pool and you have an unobstructed view of the reef, bay, beautiful sunsets and sandy beach.

Hale Pohaku was designed by award winning Hawaii architect Vladimir Ossipoff, called the “master of modern Hawaiian architecture”. It shares no common walls with other units, allowing flow through ventilation from the floor-to-ceiling louvers in every room. His unique design incorporates Kamaaina (local) style. The cool ocean breezes bring in the fresh air and are complimented by Hunter ceiling fans in each room, even the kitchen and master bathroom. The complex feels very private with only 6 units sharing the oceanfront pool, paddle tennis court and covered parking.

Inside our condo, you’ll find beautiful new furniture, granite countertops, Koa cabinets and fresh, contemporary bathrooms. The furniture in the master bedroom is custom crafted by a local artist and features the Honu (turtle) carved in the wood. The unit is fully stocked with linens and towels, including beach towels, along with a selection of beach toys. The kitchen has top end appliances and everything you need to prepare meals featuring local produce from the nearby farmers markets. In the living room, you’ll find a new 46” Sony full HD TV and DVD/audio system.

Location, location, location! The location is unique with a small white sand beach just steps away and your own private seawall gate to get there. Beyond the beach, there is a nice size wading area surrounded by lava and a coral reef. You could spend hours here in the water exploring or on the sand sun bathing. If you have children, they will love it when the turtles come over to the shore to visit. They are very curious and amazing to watch up close. And you’ll find other great beaches and surf spots close by. Finally, the oceanfront pool has plenty of patio furniture, shaded section and a grassy area for sunbathing, plus its own bathroom and shower.

We are close enough to town to walk (about a mile and a half), with lots of nice properties to look at along the way. Those of you who like to take a nice walk can head to town in the morning to have breakfast and then walk it off on the way back to the condo, followed by a swim to cool off. For anyone who doesn’t, the Kona-Keauhou trolley stop is only a block away and runs from about 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The open air Alii Gardens Marketplace is about ¼ mile away, with local produce, coffee and crafts.

During the Kona Ironman in October, Hale Pohaku puts you right in the action as the triathletes train on Ali’i Drive. During the race, the athletes run south on Ali’i Drive, passing right by Hale Pohaku on their way to Keauhou. There they turn and head north again on Ali’i, passing Hale Pohaku a second time as they compete in the final leg of the Triathlon. Just set up your beach chair and cheer them on for the final leg of the Kona Ironman.

3 night minimum, 10 nights during Ironman and Christmas. This is a no pets, no smoking property. Hawaii Tax ID: W48684779-01

Walked to town every morning at dawn. The view from the condo is so lovely we had breakfast and dinner there every day. This is a first class condo that has an ocean breeze instead of air conditioning.

This was a little piece of paradise and it really made our vacations. Also the turtles were always at the nearby beach and were beautiful to watch.

Everything about the place was as advertised. The condo was completely furnished with everything needed in a vacation rental from binoculars to shot glasses, the ocean is only 100 feet away and the sound of the waves lulled us to sleep each night. Down on the rocks of the beach, one can enjoy the sight of the basking sea turtles every day. The view from the lanai was gorgeous and entertaining as well as we watched parasails, spinner dolphins, kayakers and folks enjoying snorkeling.
We'd highly recommend this condo!

Awesome views

We enjoyed a fabulous stay at this condo in February. I delayed writing the review until we had made our reservation for another week. ? The view is outstanding – wonderful waves, beautiful sunsets, distant surfers, occasional whales. The condo was nicely furnished and the kitchen appropriately supplied. The beds were comfortable and everything that we needed was there including some extras such as binoculars, guide books, local tips. There are only a few condos in the building so the pool seemed almost private. The building is ventilated with louvered walls so there is a nice breeze. As a result of the louvers, you constantly hear the waves on the rocks. We enjoyed the constant wave noise but some may not. It was awesome to have a reserved parking space. A special callout for the pizza and beer at Kona Brewing. Get it “to-go” and enjoy the view from this condo's lanai!
