This is a wonderful alternative to the fast-paced, expensive resorts. If you stay here too, we know you will agree that it is the best place, best location, and best value. This condo has just been freshly remodeled with new tile through out and a large shower in the bathroom. The beach area is great for both sunbathers as well as catching up on a little R&R with a great book.Kona offers countless fun-filled activities year around. There simply is not a time of year that isn't perfect to be on the Big Island of Hawaii. This is a non-smoking unit. 10 night minimum during Christmas & Ironman.

A Comfy Home Away From Home

Although lacking a little in privacy, being the front unit on the first floor, I found unit 121 to be very comfortable inside. If you're looking to drown in Polynesian kitsch, this is not the condo for you. It is comfortably furnished and thoughtfully decorated--not particularly glamorous, but a very livable home away from home with a comfy queen-sized bed made with soft cotton sheets (and a ceiling fan in the bedroom, yes!!!), a good selection of pots, pans, dishes and appliances in the kitchen as well as a comfortable sofa (which I'm sure contains a bed) in the living room. The included internet connection and washer and dryer in the unit are also plusses.
If you haven't been there before, Casa de Emdeko is a two-winged Spanish style condo complex with a lovely, tended tropical courtyard between the two wings, private lanais off of each condo and a large common-space cabana and tiki-torch-lit lanai with three gas grills right beside the sea. There are also two swimming pools, one of them a rustic salty one that the waves sometimes splash right into when the surf is very high. I'm sure every visitor must spend a little time sitting on the sea-wall watching the play of light on the water and the brilliant reef fish, turtles, dolphins and, in season, whales, who happen by.
