Does your fantasy of paradise include waking up in the morning to a view of a beautiful golf course, then heading out for a morning round? If so, then Kona Country Club Villas is the place for you! Located next to the Kona Country Club, you’ll be sure to get in all the golfing you desire when you stay here at this beautiful location.
Located six miles south of downtown Kailua-Kona, historic Keauhou is a beautiful bay that was the birthplace of Kamehameha III. Keauhou has all the necessary amenities for your stay within walking distance, including grocery stores, restaurants, and a movie theater. It is a scenic trip along Aliʻi Drive to the downtown pier area, or a quicker trip along the highway if you’re looking to visit such stores as Target, Costco, or Wal-Mart. You’ll definitely want a car for your convenience.
Country Club Villas Kona is located right on the golf course, and offers a variety of two-bedroom units for you to choose from. There are also three pools, three Jacuzzis, and two tennis courts for your sporting pleasure. All units have lovely lanais from which to enjoy the view along with your morning coffee.
And for the Rest of the Family…
Just in case not everyone in the family is completely in love with golfing, not to worry! There are many, many other fun activities very close at hand. The famous snorkelling beach, Kahaluʻu, is only one mile away, and there are numerous shops nearby waiting to rent you kayaks, paddleboards, and snorkeling equipment, as well as many great surf and paddle instructors in the area who are just waiting to help you learn a new sport!
Other destinations south of Keauhou include Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park, a great spot to learn more about ancient Hawaiian religion and culture. This is a rare intact “place of refuge,” where commoners could come in the old days to have their transgressions forgiven by priests. Families also sheltered safely here during times of war, when this sanctuary was respected and protected by all. Today, as a National Historical Park, it still retains its feeling of calm and peace under the coconut trees by the ocean, but you can learn about history there as well.
Further south, as far south as you can go, you’ll come to Ka Lae, also known as South Point. This southernmost tip of the island is a windswept, wild landscape, where steep cliffs drop down to deep ocean below. This is the first place where the original Hawaiians settled, and you can still see some relics of their life in this place, including holes they made in the rocks for canoe moorings. Ka Lae is a rare place where deep-sea fishing happens right from the shore, and you’ll see Hawaiian families still practicing this ancient skill here today.
As you head back to your great Country Club vacation home, stop in at some of the many coffee farms along the highway in south Kona, and try some world-famous Kona coffee. You may smell the roasting beans before you even see the trees themselves! For a more in-depth study, consider a visit to the Kona Historical Society’s Living History Farm, where staff will demonstrate the many tasks of coffee farm life in the past. It’s a great way to get immersed in the culture of south Kona.
Of course, you’ll also happen upon roadside stands with tempting tropical fruits as you drive along, so be sure to stop and try something new! The adorable art galleries of these south Kona towns will appeal to your senses, and you’ll marvel in amazement at the incredible coastal views as you drive along. The best part is, you’ll know what a great and cozy rental condo you have waiting for you at the end of a long day of exploring!
Keauhou offers an opportunity to do something a little bit different. If you’ve stayed in Kailua-Kona on Aliʻi Drive during past vacations, then maybe this time you’re looking for a different type of vacation. If nightlife’s not your thing, try staying in a peaceful condo on the golf course for your next vacation.
