You can have a great family vacation here at Haliʻi Kai rentals, with plenty of room for all. With three-bedroom luxury accommodation, we’ve got your every need covered. Ocean views from your lanai, the comfort of central air, gourmet kitchens, and more!
The resort amenities are many: top-notch 18-hole golf courses, ocean front pool, exercise facilities overlooking the ocean, restaurant and bar. You’re just a stone’s throw from the incredible grounds of the Hilton Waikoloa, where pools become waterslides and hallways become museums. Both the Hilton and Marriott hotels frequently host special events, so check their calendars to see what’s happening during your vacation! Nearby, Lava Lava Beach Club is the best place to have your evening cocktail, and watch the sun set with your toes in the sand.
When you’re ready for a swim in the ocean, head over to ʻAnaehoʻomalu Beach (A-Bay), where right next to traditional Hawaiian fishponds, you’ll find a plethora of activities, including glass bottom boats, whale watching tours, and great ocean sports like hydro bikes and stand-up paddling. It’s a safe place for lots of family fun in the sun, and just a short distance from your great vacation rental. Waikoloa Beach Resort also has two shopping centers, Kings’ and Queens’ Shops, where designer stores and cute gift shops sit side-by-side with delicious eateries and art galleries. The beautiful landscaping and nearby lagoon make these outdoor malls into more than just shopping centers; they’re more like community gathering spots.
As Great as Waikoloa is…
…you’ll probably want to adventure further afield eventually. And you really couldn’t be in a better location for all kinds of west side adventures! It’s a short drive to Hāpuna Beach, the longest stretch of white sand on the island, and nearby Puʻukoholā Heiau, the amazing temple that Kamehameha constructed when he embarked on his quest to unite the Hawaiian islands. Further to the north, you’ll find the picturesque towns of North Kohala, full of art and curiosities. Drive to the end of the road, and take in the majestic view from Pololū Lookout. You can even hike down into the valley and swim at the beautiful black sand beach!
Head south for the day instead, and stroll along the downtown pier area of Kailua-Kona. Here you’ll find art galleries, shops, restaurants, and bars for enjoying that beautiful sunset cocktail. Take a swim here; it’s the official start of the gruelling Ironman Triathlon that happens every October. Learn about the history of the area with a visit to Hulihe‘e Palace, summer home of Hawaiian royalty, a peek inside Moku‘aikaua Church, the oldest Christian church in Hawai‘i, and a walk through the lobby of the King Kamehameha Hotel, which is full of historical paintings and artefacts. Or just laze on the seawall with a tropical-flavored ice cream cone, and watch the local kids paddle out for their afternoon canoe practice. For the adventurous, Kailua Pier is also a great spot to hop on all kinds of boats: parasailing, snorkel trips, or a romantic dinner cruise.
You’ll also find Kona to be a convenient location for shopping, as Costco, Target, Ross, and all the other chain stores are located here. Kailua-Kona and Keauhou both have great farmers’ markets, so along with necessities, souvenirs, and groceries, you can pick up some exotic tropical fruits to excite your taste buds.
A bit further south, visit the beautiful waters of Keauhou Bay and Kahalu‘u Beach, which are ideal for learning all kinds of new ocean sports. Surfing? Check. Stand-up paddling? Check. Snorkelling? Definitely! Keauhou is also the place to hop on a snorkel boat headed for Kealakekua Bay, and it’s the absolute best way to see the incredible fish and corals that inhabit the bay. Please be sure to use reef-safe sunscreen!
If you head even further south, you’ll pass into the fragrant coffee fields of South Kona. This is the place to try the world’s freshest Kona coffee! Some farms offer tours of their operations, and there’s definitely lots of sampling. For a more educational experience, consider checking out the Kona Historical Society’s Living History Coffee Farm, where you can immerse yourself in the coffee farming life of the past through demonstrations of the old ways by knowledgeable staff. And of course, pick up some more tropical fruits along the way at little roadside stands. The possibilities are endless! The best thing is, at the end of the day, you know your great rental is just waiting for you to enjoy and relax.
