What began as a small, Sunday afternoon fundraiser with live jazz music in a cozy Hilo restaurant celebrates its 6th year this October by welcoming a star-studded lineup of jazz and blues legends from Hawai‘i, the mainland, and beyond. Join the 6th Annual East Hawai‘i Jazz and Blues Festival, one of the top Hilo events, is October 28 at the picturesque Nani Mau Gardens in Hilo from 1 to 6pm for the music event of the fall.
All About the Music
Relax beneath swaying palm trees, surrounded by exotic flowers in this tropical garden as the best jazz and blues musicians from across the islands serenade you with non-stop music. This year’s event looks to build off the talented and acclaimed lineup that wowed audiences in 2017, and is sure to impress. Last year’s performers included Maggie Herron (2-time Na Hoku Winner), Allison Adams Tucker, the soulful piano stylings of Deems Tsutakawa and Friends, Hawai‘i’s own Larry Dupio (Grammy-nominated Blues guitarist), Jessie Laine Powell, the Jazztones, and more. All styles of jazz and blues will be represented in style, from gospel singers to haunting flute melodies to jazz and blues guitars battling for acoustical supremacy.
