Ut was a nice place to stay with lots of extras in the closets and cupboards. However, the dryer did not dry and we couldve used another roll of TP ing it was a very nice place. The only complainwas 8excellent

Ocean front view is stunningly gorgeous. Location is fantastic. Covered private parking a big plus. The location is close enough to the hot spots (magic sands, kona) but far enough away you don't get drunks or loud tourists walking by. The kitchen is well appointed and there is a closet filled with everything you need for the beach (chairs, Umbrellas, boogy boards).
While air conditioning is available, it is a separate charge. Normally this isn't an issue since the ocean trade winds are phenomenal. But we had a few young kids next door and since these are shudders and not windows, it isn't sound proof. So despite paying for the ac and closing the shudders, you will still know if your neighbors brought children (i.e. infants). Also note that the home is located off Ali'i drive which is convenient but does get occasional loud motor vehicle traffic at night. We did get visits from some six legged guests (very small ants, and a solitary roach) and a very cool gecko (about pinky sized and pencil thin). This is a second floor walk up and would not be suitable for elderly or those unable to go up stairs without assistance.

I can't say enough positive things about Kona Coast Vacations and our stay at Hale Pohaku 3. Kona Coast Vacations goes over and above to ensure we have accommodations for a fantastic vacation. The concierge is a great service, and ours, David, was very helpful from recommending driving trips and restaurants, to booking a whale watching tour (highlight of the trip!). We got a call from Kona Coast Vacations on our first full day to ensure we had everything we needed and to see if we had any questions. Our condo was fabulous and very clean. The customer service felt very personal and helpful. I will use only Kona Coast Vacations any time we visit the Big Island from now on. Fantastic company!

This is one of the best vacation rentals we've ever stayed. The view is, of course, stunning. The condo is comfortable and very well appointed. Even though we did not utilize the concierge service, the staff was outstanding -- reaching out several times prior to departure to offer help, calling us shortly after our arrival to make sure all was well, and alerting us to events that could potentially impact our plans. Kudos to the staff!

This condo true to its listing. The decor was wonderful and the inside was very clean. We appreciated all the extras that came with the space (beach toys, chairs, kitchen extras, umbrellas, bags, coolers, etc) it was all here and we didn't need to worry about it. There were plenty of fans in the condo to help keep us cool when needed, otherwise we did not miss having the AC at all. The beach waves helped drown out any street or neighbor noise, which we loved. The condo was close and convenient to everything along the coast and we would definitely stay here again.

This place was very nice. My wife, 16 year old daughter and myself stayed here. It is a short 5 minute drive into town for great restaurants. Short 5 minute walk to The Poke Shack that has great food. Picture perfect setting right on the water with a great lania that we enjoyed each morning drinking our coffee. It was a little noisey as the windows are actually shutters with screens, no glass. The A/C worked great. Overall very nice and i would definately consider staying here again.

We had a great time and the property was spacious and had everything we needed. The views were absolutely stunning! We enjoyed the pool and walking down by the rocks and beach area. It was nice to have the air conditioning units but we didn't have to use them a lot. The condo (especially the window screens) could have been cleaner but I would still recommend staying here.

Overall stay was great. Some small things made it to my attention as I took my elderly parents to visit the island for the last time possibly. Couch was completely wore out or broke or both. We would slide right off the cushions because it was so deformed from the hide a bed inside and most likely being old. Other than that it was what I expected. The pictures were taken freshly after a remodel whenever that was. Must have been a while ago. Somewhere along the way we have lost the pay it forward as there was nothing in the cupboards as for spices, syrup, soups, unopened chips or anything in the fridge as for leftover Waters or other things that do not spoil. I miss that! You basically have to grocery shop and what's left over at the end of your stay throw out. No aloha in that..... is there? Don't get me wrong we had a wonderful time as always. We consider Kona our second home!

The only two complaints I had with the property and they might sound silly but: 1- very loud from the ocean. I was aware of the ocean noise but the walls of the condo are pretty much open other than louvers to block the sound. 2- No barbecue on the property. Kind of a let down but I should have asked.

One of 6 condo units, 2nd floor, unobstructed ocean view barely 40' from the surf, which is mesmerizing over coffee at first light or with a glass of wine as the sun slips over the horizon, and soothing all through the night. The style is vaguely Asian, louvered windows, lots of wood. This kitchen is not quite as slick as it appears in the web photos, but more than adequate. Beds are comfortable, plenty of towels, storage adequate, Shower water pressure is weak, but that seems to be true all over the big island. About 10 minutes south of Kona center, quiet but close to the action. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

My wife, mother-in-law and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Holualoa. While at the property, we spent the majority of our time on the spacious lanai/patio overlooking the water (gorgeous and tranquil with the waves crashing against the rocky shore). The property description was on point, check-in/checkout was straightforward and the single parking space is spacious/covered and in a garage connected to the property. Our only issue was that one of the AC units in one of the bedrooms was on the fritz. Kona Coast Property Mgmt provided us with a mobile unit the following day, and that did the trick. Speaking of which, I would highly advise adding the optional air conditioning (at least during the time of year for our stay: August). It was warm late into the evening, but that is to be expected that time of the year in Kona. We would definitely stay at this property again.

You can't beat the view at this location. The condo stayed cool with plenty of windows and fans. Check out was a little difficult with our code being turned off hours before checkout. Luckily we had a phone with us so we could call to get another code, but it cancelled right away too so we had to just make sure someone was inside all of the time while loading our car.

We loved our stay on this condo. The unit has a gorgeous oceanfront view and access to a small sandy beach. Sunset views were amazing. It is a small condo building that seems well maintained and the balcony of the unit is quite private. The only warning for guests is that the road noise is pretty loud in the primary bedroom with all the windows open. If road noise bothers you at night, bring earplugs. It's probably a problem for most condos on Alii Drive. The location and views of the condo make this small inconvenience well worth it. Would definitely stay here again!

This property was exactly as advertised and more! We stayed here with our daughter and her husband to help them celebrate their 25th anniversary. The 2 bedrooms were situated so both couples had plenty of privacy. There was a beach area to the left of the condo that was a very short stroll from the condo. We saw dolphins swimming by almost everyday. The condo was well equipped with everything we needed. We had an issue with the door lock sticking but the issue was dealt with right away. The property manager was easy to reach. We would definitely stay in this condo again!

First, we have spent 8 weeks in Kona this year. So we've been using VRBO and are very familiar with the properties and what our expectations should be. The layout of this unit is awesome. The open air feeling permeates every room and the lanai is perfect. You'll sleep well with natures wave machine at your back door That said, the unit could use a refresh. furniture is old and sacked out, and the appliances are rusty and function just enough. The beach equipment is way below current standards (Tommy Bahama chairs and umbrellas) with only 3 low chairs Not what I would expect at this price point. Kona Coast did get us some new knives, which we appreciated, and were responsive.

The condo was dated, kitchen and bathrooms were small and felt old. No BBQ available, or allowed. Furnishings were not very comfortable and dated. The lever windows let a lot of street noise in. I was disappointed.

This is our 5th time staying at Hale Pohaku, but the first time in unit 3. It was lovely! Beautiful styling and well equipped. We never use the kitchen much, but it seemed like everything you would need if you're cooking on vacation would be there. There were even a couple small coolers that made it easy to pack snacks/lunch to head out to a beach for the day. We love the louvered walls, but if you want to try and sleep in they may not be for you, the birds do start early. This is an absolutely wonderful property and will be back next time we visit Kona!

We had a great time at this property - the location is perfect (close to town, easy to access), and the ocean views are unbeatable. The condo has lots of amenities and the owners are quick to respond to any questions. We were having issues with the washing machine and they were able to send maintenance within an hour of our call. Cleanliness is a 5 other than a slight ant problem in the kitchen (nothing major and seems to be prevalent all over the island, but is noticeable).

It’s location directly next to the ocean is incredible! Hearing the waves crashing all day and night is exhilarating, and relaxing at the same time! The numerous screened windows with the shutters allow for pleasant cross breezes. We appreciated the attractive artwork throughout. The decor is elegant, echoing Polynesia in multiple tasteful furnishings, without the “Hilo Hattie” cliches. The bright white paint contrasts with the hardwoods for a contemporary look. The galley kitchen, very thoughtfully well-stocked, is a joy to work in, especially with that fantastic view. Enjoyed morning exercise swims—in what felt like our own, private, and very pristine pool. After exploring the island (the location is most convenient) we always looked forward to our daily return to Hale Pohaku #3 and it’s glorious ocean and cross breezes.
The pictures don't lie...this is an exceptionally beautiful spot to spend your time on the Kona Coast.

The interior is splendidly appointed with gorgeous wood, granite, and tile. The kitchen has all you need, and the lanai is just wonderful. You'll take all your meals there for sure. We could see spinner dolphins in the surf out front, and the crashing waves serenaded us continually. The pool is a great bonus, and the gate leads down to a small beach where you can admire the sunset and watch the crabs scurry over the rocks. The views both south and north from the lanai are amazing. I highly recommend this unit for your Kona stay.

Being 2.5 miles from downtown Kona, it's a spirited walk into town for an iced Kona brew or a 2.5 mile walk south to an amazing snorkeling location. A part of me is hesitant to give a review because I don't want this gem of a place to get too popular before my next visit. My family and I stayed 3 days in this condo, and while we perhaps did not get to know it too intimately in that short time, we had little to no complaints.
Most everything is updated and functioning great. You can open the entire place up to the elements with the sliding windows, or close them and pay for A/C (which I recommend in the summer if you're not used to the humidity). The patio/lanai is incredible and overlooks a great little beach that you can walk down to via the access gate behind the pool. There is snorkeling straight out or just to the right. In our three days there, we hardly saw another person. We really felt like we had our own private area which you wont find at one of the larger complexes.
The condo also came stocked with plenty of other things like glue, binoculars, and detergent that came in handy. We were never wanting for anything.
If I really had to give a complaint, the only thing that I'd suggest is perhaps upgrading the beds a little bit or putting a softer pad on them. They are not uncomfortable by any means, but they could be more comfortable.
Otherwise, for the price, this property is fantastic. The owners have done an exceptional job and I can only hope that it is available for rent the next time we visit.

It was the trip of a lifetime for the sisters Linda! We were attending a wedding of a friend and decided to take our sisters along. I found Hale Pohaku 3 ingriguing based on its internet description. I booked it. I was contacted by David, the concierge, immediately after the booking, offering his services to book events and be our intermediary. What a delightful man AND service. He proved to be very helpful! It's a long way from South Dakota to Hawaii, and we were exhausted when we arrived. EVERYTHING was as it should have been. The view is spectacular. The accommodations, comfortable and well appointed. The lanai? Oh my, the lanai! Morning coffee. Mid morning coffee. Lunch. Afternoon coffee. Supper. Pre-bed nap. All on the lanai! In all our travels, the lanai not ranks FIRST on the list of "Oh My's!" Our suggestion for improvement? As you book this property, opt for the additional cost of air conditioning. We learned the first night, and by 10:00 the next morning, we had air!
Properties live and die by the service accompanying them. I have nothing but praise for Kona Coast Vacations. We are old. We try not to revisit a place until we've been everywhere we want to go. Hale Pohaku 3 may break that trend. We would love to return!

A beautiful location. A bit noisy between surf & traffic. Well furnished with beach chairs etc. Very comfortable, cannot go wrong with this unit. ***This review was transferred from our old site to the new one Effective Jan 1st, 2017***
