The Kamilo House was the perfect accommodation for our family that visited the Big Island. It’s located in a gated community that was so quiet that it felt like we were the only ones there! The property itself was spacious and clean and included everything we could have possibly needed for our stay, and more! Shops and restaurants are just a short drive away, and for the adventurous you can easily walk into town. Mahalo for letting us stay at this wonderful property.

This is the second time we've rented the house

Hi Kona Coast, We've enjoyed our use of the Kamilo house. This is the second time we've rented the house, the first time being 2022. There are just a few items I'd leave as suggestions for the homeowner. 1. A single book for all their rules and requests. They have various requests taped up in various parts of the house, close to the items in question. However, that also means that one has to go and visit each location to see what the request might be. i.e. take out the trash, thermostat rules, etc.... 2. When we were there in 2024, there were specific instructions for the use of the hot tub. This time, my wife could not find those instructions and was unsure how to make the hot tub hot. We noticed there were times when the water was warm, but not hot 3. Twice the garage door came down and then sensed something was wrong and went back up. In both cases, there were no obstructions. But, it only happened twice. 4. More hangers in some closets please 5. The door to the master bedroom from the living sags just a bit. You have to lift it up as you're opening and closing to keep it from "sticking" 6. We realized too late that the owners did NOT want us to wash the towels before we left, so we did them anyway and then noticed we didn't have to do the sheets. Again, a central book of rules would help. 7. The inductive chargers for phones were appreciated 8. Maybe instructions for people on how to get to the smart TV's list of apps so that they can enable and watch their Netflix, Prime Video, etc.... in the book of rules? Otherwise, we had a great time. This time we booked directly through Kona Coast and saved the surcharge that VRBO charges.

We are really trying to be pro-active in keeping our aina healthy, so we switched to digital since your last stay. We loved our stay here to celebrate our daughter’s 19th Birthday. House was wonderful - VERY clean and just as described with best stocked kitchen we have had. The back yard/lanai was the best part - already missing our morning coffees and breakfasts out on the lanai. Perfectly located - close enough to Kona but far enough away to enjoy the peaceful quiet. We will definitely be back!

We loved staying here. It was beautiful and had many amenities with lots of outdoor living space and foliage. We thought the pool could have been cleaner (the home’s rule book said someone would be by to clean it weekly, but that did not happen. The pool vacuum also seemed to be broken or not working). The home’s rule book also read a little like ‘stay here, but don’t have fun’. It gave obvious suggestions like be respectful with noise and also many great ideas for local places to visit. But then it also said things like “don’t do cannon balls in the pool” which seemed excessive. The home was very clean, though, and nicely furnished. Someone put liquid hand soap in one of the bathroom’s foam hand soap dispenser’s which rendered the soap in that bathroom basically useless, but that was a minor thing to us with a simple fix to the grocery store. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would visit again! Just please clean the pool better next time. Thank you for a great stay!

We stayed for two weeks and wished we could have stayed longer. The house was amazing with beautiful views, an amazing pool and lanai, and great kitchen for cooking. The house is really close to shopping, but also in a beautiful, and quiet, neighborhood. We had an issue with the washer as well as some little fire ants (LFA), but the rental property management team was impressively responsive. Within hours, the washer was fixed and the hot tub area treated for ants.

Property/Location: 10/10 not too far from downtown and activities, nice to be in an estate area, great views and landscaped yard, perfect home for entertaining with enough room for everyone. We enjoyed this property overall and happy to discover the fence around the pool (which were not in the pictures), the outdoor shower doesn't exist (shown in pictures) Hot tub was on a timer which was unfortunate as we like it in the morning and wouldn't come on past sunset. Although the lengthy rental agreement states #38 of 68 terms, "38. RIGHT OF ENTRY AND INSPECTIONS: Kona Coast Vacations will have the right to enter the Premises pursuant to state law; (1) In case of emergency, without prior notice. (2) To make necessary repairs, alterations, improvements, supply necessary or agreed services, exhibit the Premises to prospective or actual purchasers, mortgagees, Guests, workmen, insurance agents, or contractors. GUEST acknowledges that routine care taking, and grounds maintenance will occur periodically during the lease period." The most frustrating of this property was all of the pool, yard maintenance people that came by during our stay unfortunately interrupted our families flow and privacy. People seemed to show up every time someone was napping including the kids or we were trying to enjoy the pool. In 5 days we had the following: pool tile guy, motion detector guy, 5 guys for landscaping, someone came to change a beach chair pad. Additional Cons: for the caliber of the property and costs, we would like to see updated beach gear as the chairs and ice chest were broken, the washer and dryer are very old, this is a personal residence so personal phones calls started at 6AM. In the end still and great Escape, would prefer less interactions with outsiders while trying to enjoy such.

The house and property were outstanding. We especially enjoyed eating outside and watching the sun set over the swimming pool and palm trees. The kitchen was fully equipped with pots, pans, utensils. The heater for the "plunge pool" didn't perform as it should, but was replaced in a timely manner. All in all, highly recommended and would go back in a heart beat.

I can't say enough good things about this home. The backyard makes you feel like you are at your very own resort. You can watch both the sunrise & sunset from the lounge chairs by the pool. We enjoyed the sunshine from sunup to sundown. The home is VERY clean & comfortable. We loved watching the geckos & listening to the birds in the private tropical setting. We will definitely be returning to this beautiful home.

This house was our first Vrbo experience, and it may have ruined our expectations for any future rentals! We received a call letting us the house was ready for check in about an hour before scheduled check in, and when we arrived, the place was immaculate! The backyard and lanai was very well maintained, the the home very well equipped. There were labels on everything, so if there were any quirks with the appliances or air conditioning, we knew what to do from the labels, and we didn't have to contact the property management at all. As parents of a child on the spectrum, we really appreciated the lanai sliding door alarms that we could turn on at night. The view was amazing, and we enjoyed morning coffee on the lanai and beautiful sunsets. The pool and yard team were there the first day, and did a great job. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would do it again in a heartbeat!

We just recently departed from this property so my review is fresh. We would rate this the best property we've stayed at in Kona, that is still in the vrbo-market. We were pleasantly surprised that the pantry was fully stocked with spices, which cleaning crews tend to clear away those that you purchases while on your stay. The welcome gift bag from the management agency was also pretty outstanding. We've taken the spices given in that bag onto our next part of our trip! The bedrooms and living spaces are exactly as described in the picture. The living/dining spaces are slightly smaller than many places we usually rent, but the covered lanai made up for the those aforementioned spaces. Kitchen island is extremely large, which was also a secondary eating/working area for those having to use their laptops. We usually visit Kona every 2-3 years and certainly would look for this property the next time we come back.

Property is 5 min from Kailua and easy to get to. There are two large bins by the pool, and one by the side of the house with pool inflatables (and a handy pump!), boogie boards, and a couple of low beach chairs. House and yard are extremely well maintained. Kitchen has everything. Watch the water level in the plunge pool though. It seemed to go down a couple of inches each night (slow leak maybe or evaporation?), and if the level gets too low it makes a loud sucking sound the neighbors can hear and won't like. Just add water from the convenient hose. I recommend staying here without hesitation!

We had a fantastic stay at Kamilo House! It is an amazing house, that was a perfect fit for our family of six. We spent a LOT of time swimming in the pool and running around the yard, and ending each day chilling by the pool, grilling some dinner, and watching the sunset over the ocean framed by beautiful palm trees really can't be beat. The house had everything we needed, was in beautiful condition, and the location was great for us to explore the Big Island. Would highly recommend this house, and we would love to visit again!

We stayed for a week at the Kamino House. A fabulous time was had by all. The house was in a perfect location, close to town, the airport and all that we needed. It was beautiful with a pool and great view. It well quite appointed. There were blow dryers in the bathrooms and plenty of towels. Beach chairs and an umbrella were in the garage which was very nice. Beach towels were also provided. We packed with the intention of doing laundry which was a blessing! We had a housekeeping issue that was handled in such a prompt, professional, courteous and concerned way. We mattered as guests and that's important. We would absolutely return to this house, or consider another property through Kona Coast Vacations with the experience that we had.

The Kamilo house was perfect for two couples. Our first trip to Hawaii during February so we could see the whales. Most days we could see them from the backyard lawn breaching and spouting just off the coast. Took the dinner cruise one day and saw humpback and pilot whales along with many dolphins. The home was very comfortable and had everything we needed.

We also had an issue with the hot water heater not working but they really got on top of any issue that came up. I was pleasantly surprised how well we were taken care of. I would recommend this property to anyone and would stay again.!! The sunsets here are so beautiful!!

Great place to take a family- photos do not do it justice. 5 minutes from the main part of Kona I'm a quiet, gated community. Plenty of space and the lanai was excellent. Would stay here again without any doubt. Excellent home and the view from the backyard overlooking the ocean is amazing. Watched the sunset every night

This is undoubtedly the best VRBO I have ever stayed in. The house and yard are amazing. The owners have thought of everything with great furnishings and well stocked kitchen. We ate all our meals at the house as we didn't want to leave. We swam every day and slept so good at night as the neighborhood is so quiet. After paying $50 per night to park in Honolulu, it was so nice to have free parking in our own driveway. The management company couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. After a late and long flight from the mainland it was so nice to go directly to the house and have the lights and a/c already turned on by the management company. We are already planning our next stay here!

We loved the outdoor living space where we could Bbq, swim, hot tub and sit out under the veranda and drink coffee in the morning and drink wine in the evening. The house had everything we needed including plastic dishes for outside, pool toys, a cooler for our picnic when we drove to the volcano and the location was amazing. Being on the Kona coast we could see the ocean from the house and we were a 5 min drive to restaurants, markets, shopping and the harbour for boating excursions. We found the Kona customer service was top notch as they helped us with any questions we had upon arrival. Thank you for letting us stay at you clean, inviting and spacious house!!

We loved this property. The house is well maintained, the grounds are beautiful, the pool is such a plus to have your own. Evening swims are awesome. And the sunsets from the hot tub, fabulous. The neighborhood is so quiet, didn't hear anybody all week. Convenient to everything in Kona. Couldn't have asked for a better house to spend a family vacation in.

Kamilo House in Kona was great - it felt like home away from home. The outdoor living space and pool area felt like having our own private resort, but the neighborhood was quiet and very centrally located. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone and hope to come back!

We absolutely loved the Kamilo House. Of all the places we’ve stayed over the years, be it Florida, Hawaii or anywhere else, it is by far the best place we’ve ever been to. We dined at home every evening, enjoying the killer view and the beautiful sunsets, while the kitchen was fully equipped with everything we could need. Bugs thrive outside, but we haven’t seen one inside the house. The cleanliness was top notch. The Big Island is indeed big, and the house is ideally located just outside Kona, making it a perfect base for all day trips around the island. While the weather was uncertain on many places around the island, we’ve got good weather throughout our stay. We could see the rain pouring on the mountains behind our neighbourhood, while we enjoyed sunshine and rainbow views at the house. On top of everything, all the dealing with Kona Coast Vacations was smooth and efficient. We can’t insist enough on how much we loved this property. It is pure bliss. Give yourself a treat and book a trip to Kona and the Beautiful Big Island of Hawai’i, staying at the Kamilo House.

Great place to stay in Kona. Speculator house, great scenery, very convenient to restaurants and many island attractions. 5 minute drive to the best snorkeling spot. Property is well maintained with attractive garden, and many places to relax and enjoy the ocean view, The pool overlooking the ocean was incredible. We watched the sunset each night from the comfortable lounge chairs. Enjoyed the and hot tub. This house had all the amenities to just relax and enjoy. Highly recommend this gorgeous property.

This place has everything you could ever need. View, pool, space, location, amenities. We came with our two kids (17 & 20) and they each got a room. The interior is beautiful and spotless. They have beach towels (lots) kitchen equipment, extra bath towels, we didn’t have anything we needed to get. The outdoor living area and pool by far got the most use. There are pool toys, extra cushions for chairs and loungers, BBQ, table, etc. we spent several days pool side and evenings eating dinner and playing cards on the lanai. The location is great, terrific view! Close to Kona. We watched the Kona 4th of July fireworks show from the backyard! Vacation property mangers very helpful and kind. There have been concerns abiut the vog from the volcano; and while a bit hazy some days it’s still Hawai’i and wonderful! It didn’t hinder us at all. We will absolutely return to this wonderful home!!

The pictures and description are right on. I would not think twice about returning to this house for a few more weeks of relaxation. Close enough for quick access to town, but just far enough away for peace and tranquility. The privacy the back yard provides is perfect, the pool and hot tub great, the view unsurpassed. There is nothing I would change. Do yourself a favor and book this house through Kona Coast Vacations.

We are repeat visitors to Kona and this house meet our expectations. The property is well maintained and the view is nice. Having the house on one level is welcome and it is laid out well. Our guests were not able to join us so we had this for the two of us, so we can not comment on what it would be like with multiple people. The quiet neighborhood within walking distance to Alii was perfect.

Kamilo House is conveniently located 3 miles from the heart of old Kailua in a quiet well kept gated community. The back yard covers a half acre of flat manicured lawn that is very private. You might find yourself struggling to leave the lanai because it's just so peaceful. Everything in the house is in like new condition and the owners have kept it equipped with literally every amenity, right down to beach chairs, snorkeling gear and igloo coolers for day trips. The kitchen is fully stocked and the BBQ has extra propane tank. Just arrive with clothes to wear. Everything else has been thought of for you. Air Conditioning is a huge plus during the summer months. Pool is warm and spa runs automatically everyday at 5:00.

The house has almost everything you need (beach equipment). It's located away from busy road, so very quiet. Nice view of pacific ocean. Close to restaurants and grocery stores. I hope I will be back to the house soon.

We love the property! Suggestions for improvement! Air conditioning on when we arrive. Mainlanders have to acclimate! We never used the AC again. Another place we stayed had the Hawaiian music playing which was a wonderful welcome, along with the AC. Nice Martha Stewart percale sheets on the King bed. Very special! Also remote control opener for the garage. All the comforts of home. We spend a lot of time there as we have been to the neighborhood 9 times! Looking forward to our next stay!
