Construction Notice

Parking garage repairs are scheduled from January 5 through April 13, 2027. While work will take place away from the individual units, some construction noise may occasionally be heard from the pool area during weekday hours, generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Great waterfront condo with a beautiful view! Next to a small local beach good for surfing and boogie boarding. A quick walk to restaurants and a quick drive to Safeway for groceries. Well-outfitted kitchen, though other than salt and pepper there were no other spices, condiments, cooking oil, etc. so if you plan to cook you’ll need to pick things up.

We had the most fantastic 9 nights in Kona. The apartment was exactly as written and photographed. The view (which was important to us) was perfect. The sound of the ocean each day was incredible. We watched the surfers, crew boaters, swimmers, fishermen, and shell hunters. We even had three beautiful cruise ships come in which was absolutely lovely. Fantastic location - you can't beat it for two people. Perfect.

We overall enjoyed the condo. The kitchen was great and had the amenities we expected. The lanai and the view were beautiful. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were great. There were enough towels and sheets and supplies for our stay. The living area was comfortable and well appointed.

The view of this place was spectacular! Lanai overlooks the ocean and we spent many peaceful mornings and nights listening to the waves and watching the boogie boarders! They warned us not to use GPS to find the condo, but we had no issues. Easy walk into downtown for restaurants and shopping. Honl's beach is right next to you, but it is NOT recommended for swimming! Strong undertow and current. Experienced boogie boarders only! TIP: look in the cabinet on the lanai for fins and other snorkel equipment! Host was great. Gave us an early check in which was appreciated. We also had an issue with the wifi, but they were very responsive and immediately offered to send someone over to fix it. Other things: A/C works great. Parking is free. Check out the Big Island guidebook in the living room!

Praise: We always enjoy our stay at Kona Reef A32! Kona Coast vacations was very responsive and communicative about the unit - despite the shower leaking, we at least knew about it in advance, and it wasn’t a problem, overall. When we couldn’t find (or identify) the new(ish) washer “sheet” system, we were brought new ones on the day we said we needed them, which was awesome! The new lounge chairs on the lanai and the new fan and blinds in the bedroom were an added bonus! Also an excellent collection of beach stuff in the cabinet on the lanai, which we’ve contributed to in the past. Constructive feedback: still surprised that the showers fix was so complicated - depending upon a water main shut off for the whole complex (or wing, or whatever). Thought that might be specific to each unit. Had to pull out an added blanket from the closet, but SO glad that was available. We also saw more small bugs than in years past, although not a big problem as we expect that in tropical climates. Smelled a bit mustier than past visits. Unit just needs a little more love like the small upgrades we saw this year, but we’d certainly rent again in the future, as it checks ALL the boxes for a dive trip from the Pacific Northwest. Overall, we’ve had very good luck with your vacation rentals, will continue to use you for future visits, and someday (perhaps) we’ll have a condo of our own and can work with your agency to help us create great experiences for families like ours! We really enjoyed staying at your Ocean Front Condo (#A32) except followings. 1. a sound of a small leak, a stream of water coming from the shower all day long 2. two person who are sitting and smoking in the garden facing to shore I am afraid that the area is not designated for smoking

We are so sorry you had to deal with the shower leak. It looks like a cartridge had to be ordered and did not arrive during your stay. One of the few drawbacks to living here.

As for the smoking... we do regret you had to deal with this as well. If you ever stay with us again, please give us a call, we would be happy to reach out to the complex manager/security to deal with unauthorized smoking.

Heart of The Action

Kona Reef condos were very good location in the heart of Kailua-Kona. Walking distance to everything. Right next door to the original boogie board beach, so you can watch boarders all day long. We even saw the 20th annual competition while there. We stayed in two units, one on the third floor with a great view, and one ground floor right on the oceanfront. However, the beach is not for swimming. It is a rocky entrance with extreme surf. Great for boarding, not so great for swimming or lounging. The complex is a little worn but serviceable. If you are fan of the Big Island and want to be in the heart of the action, this is a good deal.

A32 Was Wonderful

We love staying at the Kona Reef (it was our seventh visit) and unit A32 was wonderful. The chaise lounge on the lanai was a welcome surprise as it wasn't shown in the pictures. Very comfortable and great for an afternoon nap! We appreciated that when we let you know there was only one pool key, you brought a second pool key right away. Two things you could pass on to the owner – the fan in the bathroom doesn't appear to work and it would be helpful if they added a second night stand beside the bed as currently there is only one. There's room for it and it's nice to have both guests able to set their phone, eye glasses, a book etc, on their side of the bed. I kept the ironing board up on my side of the bed to use as a ‘table', but obviously that's not ideal. We are already looking forward to returning to the Kona Reef, hopefully in 2026. It's our favorite holiday destination!

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at Kona Reef during our anniversary trip and we LOVED it! The unit was so clean, and stocked with everything we needed for our 2 week stay. The concierge service (David) was awesome! It allowed us to book some great tours with so much ease during our time on the island. And the staff at Kona Coast Vacations were so welcoming. The condo is great, amazing views and could not be closer to the ocean, approximately 30 feet! The unit is well equipped and whilst we didn't cook much it is a fully equipped kitchen capable of cooking dinner. The bed is comfortable and everything was clean on arrival.

Had an excellent stay when we were there - maybe the best ever. Really liked the unit. Could nit pick a couple of very minor things but won't. Did contact you about some suggestions already. Had some noisy neighbors in A33 but again, not a big deal. Only disappointment was that Mauna Loa waited a week after we left to erupt. We always spend a night in Volcano when we are there. Went hiking on the Slopes of Mauna Loa when we were there even though we weren't supposed to 🤗.

The lanai of A32 Kona Reef is in the perfect location to watch sunsets over the ocean. Kona Reef is within walking distance to the many shops and restaurants in town. The apartment was clean, comfortable and all furniture and appliances were in good condition. The apartments felt well cared for and the rest of the complex was well presented. My interactions with the Kona Coast team were always friendly and professional. my husband and I loved our time at A32 Kona Reef and should we visit the big island again we would be happy to stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay at Kona Reef. The locations was within walking distance of the main drag along the coast giving you access to a variety of restaurants and shops. Even better was the view from the balcony. Woke up to a the sounds of the waves and a beautiful view. It was also great to relax at the end of the day and watch the sunset.

Clean and Everything Worked

Unit was clean and everything worked. We have stayed at most of the units at Kona Reef. We did note that other than a 1/3rd bottle of salt, there were no condiments requiring each to be bought. While we don't expect all items possible to be provided, most other units provide enough items to supplement one's enjoyment without each item being procured and those not, we always procure and donate to the unit. Just some food for thought. The Kona Coast folks were very friendly and accommodated most any request. They are a good management company. Thank you. Aloha🤙. Chris

Oceanfront Condo was Amazing!

The ocean front view with this condo was amazing. We watched the sunset almost every night from the balcony. Condo was clean. Kitchen was well stocked with all the basics. Great location, close to shopping and dining. Only downfall was the bed. Very uncomfortable, something the owners should look into replacing! Would recommend this place!

We loved this location and the view from the patio. We watched surfers everyday from the patio and beautiful sunsets each evening. It was great to be walking distance to restaurants and shops. I just returned home after staying in A32 at Kona Reef for a week and a half. The unit itself it lovely- comfortable furniture, lots of towels and dishes- really everything you will need. The AC and wifi worked well, which was important to me as I was working from there. The best part is the lanai which sits right over the ocean. I spent countless hours sitting there, listening to the waves crash and watching the surfers. The complex is very well maintained. The pool and grilling areas are clean and quiet. I would highly rcommend this unit

Very nice property, newly remodeled with a fantastic view. Pool and BBQ grills were a great amenity. Also, David our concierge was awesome with some great recommendations. Our only problem we encountered was washing machine was not working. I understand things stop working from time to time and getting repair parts to Hawaii quickly is not easy. Property manager handled problem professionally and we were satisfied. Would definitely recommend and/or visit again.

Kona Reefer was awesome we rented condo’s A4 / A32 both faced right on the ocean .. couldn’t get a better view,coffee in the morning and sunsets in the evening were da-kine..Very quite nice pool and grounds,condos were ice and clean. A32 could use a little up dating but wouldn’t stop me from renting again. A4 was nicely done..very close to everything in downtown Kona but not in the middle of all the bars and restaurants which we liked .. Had a great time! Date of Stay: 12/19/17 to 12/30/17

We had a wonderful time at Kona Reef A32. The unit was exactly as advertised. It was in very good condition and clean. Everything worked. The ocean front view was wonderful, we really enjoyed our time on the lanai. A bonus we didn't expect was the proximity to shopping and restaurants. The unit was very clean, in good condition, and well equipped. We enjoyed many hours on the lanai. This is a great ocean front location. When we booked we didn't realize how close it was to Kona with all that has to offer. There must be 20 restaurants and bars with a mile, not to mention the shops and services. And it was such a pleasant walk that we did it most days! I would definitely come again!

Great unit facing the beautiful sea and sunset in Kailua-Kona, snorkel beach next door and nice pool or grassy ocean-front lawn for options. Loved watching the body boarders, outriggers, parasails, and sea turtles. Walk to dinner at Huggos or a little further into the main tourist area. Walk or jog the other way for a nice exercise. Rental company great to work with. Top floor so there are stairs. Date of Stay: 9/26/17 to 10/1/17

This condo on the top floor was perfect. AC in mainroom and in bedroom were helpfull. Also appreciate the ceiling fans. Description and pictures are accurate. In a storage on the balcony, there are many beach accessories (look under the bed for long chair) We have seen 2 other units and A32 is the best ! All king of restaurants and boutiques are at a walking distance. Grocery store at 5 min. in car. Other big stores (Costco, Wallmart, Target, Ross...) are at 15-20 minutes in car. If you choose Big Island, this is the place for you. Date of Stay: 8/8/17 to 8/21/17

Everything was wonderful. Everything in the Unit worked well, no issues at all. Top floor privacy and view of surf break all day long.

Perfect Location and Nicely Decorated

We loved the location and the view from the lanai. This condo would be very nice for a couple. I was traveling with my sister and we needed separate beds. I slept on the pull out sofa bed. The mattress was very thin and I would not recommend it for an adult unless a board was placed between the mattress and the springs. I weigh 130#s and it caved in between the springs with my weight. Because the view and the sound of the surf were spectacular I would probably be happy to sleep on the sofa bed again.
