Amazing Vacation!

We had an absolutely amazing vacation! The high light of our stay was the condo. Perfect location to all the shops and shopping down Alii drive, the sunset views….omg you can’t get any better at any other location! We were there over Christmas and New Year's and really enjoyed the location. Love that the Kona Reef is really chill and peaceful. By far just sitting on the gorgeous lanai and reading and watching the waves and relaxing was the highlight of our trip! Don’t hesitate on this one!! We’re already looking at booking again next year!

This was our 3rd stay at the Kona Reef and the best condo so far. Clean. Gorgeous view of the sunset from the patio each night. Bed actually firm-ish! Beds in Hawaii are usually terrible and saggy but this mattress must be newer. Very happy about that. The only concern is that as of our stay this week first week of September there is construction in the unit next door. I’m talking table saw on the patio and drilling cabinets into the wall directly attached to our bedroom starting at 8:15 AM. We booked in May when it wasn’t noted of construction starting in July. To the property manager’s credit they had a very quick response to my concern when we arrived and refunded us a little bit to help resolve things. It’s not their fault this is still going on. But that said, do not book a stay here if you want peace and quiet and only to hear the ocean until you can confirm the construction is over with. I have nothing but positive things to say about the property manager or the unit otherwise and will try to book it again next year!

Kona Reef condos were very good location in the heart of Kailua-Kona. Walking distance to everything. Right next door to the original boogie board beach, so you can watch boarders all day long. We even saw the 20th annual competition while there. We stayed in two units, one on the third floor with a great view, and one ground floor right on the oceanfront. However, the beach is not for swimming. It is a rocky entrance with extreme surf. Great for boarding, not so great for swimming or lounging. The complex is a little worn but serviceable. If you are fan of the Big Island and want to be in the heart of the action, this is a good deal.

We had a great time in the condo. It is very well furnished, has a great view, and is an easy walk downtown. The kitchen was well stocked. It was very clean when we showed up. We didn’t use the A/C, but we appreciated that it was there in case it had been hot and humid. I am glad there was a step stool to use for the bed. I know the listing says it’s high, but the step stool was needed for my 5’1” wife. My only minor complaint was the Internet. The DSL Internet service was almost unusable at times. I know Spectrum has a much better Internet offering. You might want to mention that to the owner. It made it hard to share how much fun we had because the uploading was so slow. We will certainly plan another stay in the future and we will book directly with you folks. I appreciated all the timely communication before, during and after our stay. Regards, John

A6 was the Loveliest

We've been to the Kona Reef four times. It's our preferred accommodation for the location, amenities and atmosphere. A6 was the loveliest appointed of the three apartments at which we've stayed in Kona Reef. The appliances were all new or in perfect working order and there is AC in the bedroom as well are the living areas. We would definitely return. The only thing we would add is a lighted makeup mirror as the lighting in the bathroom is not the best for that sort of thing. But after a couple of days in the sun who needs makeup? Aloha.

We loved our stay at the Kona Reef! The location was fantastic, and we could walk to everything. The lanai was beautiful, and we could not have asked for a better view. The condo was very clean and exactly as advertised. The unit was well stocked with everything we needed for the week which we appreciated. Kona Coast Vacations checked in with us when we arrived to see if we needed anything. They also helped us book 2 excursions and those were great too. We would stay here again.

We loved Kona Reef. The unit is oceanfront, ground floor. We loved waking up, drinking coffee, sitting out on the lanai, and watching the waves, boats and friendly people pass by. We walked to town often to grab breakfast, dinner or other items we needed. There was no cooking on this trip with so many good restaurants close by. The location was perfect. The unit had everything we needed. We did purchase our own pool towels and then found the ones in the unit on the 3rd day. We will return to Kona Reef!

Beautiful oceanfront location with great amenities. We enjoyed being able to cook and eat in our own patio, the grill area is so close, local mahi is delish. Easy to walk to town to shop and eat. We enjoyed being able to run, bike and swim parts of the Ironman Kona course as well as relax in the sun, easy access to lots of island activities. The unit and the complex are clean, quiet and easy to enjoy. Our second time at Kona Reef and would definitely stay in this unit and location again.

Cozy and Comfortable

The condo was cozy and comfortable. Enjoyed the view of the ocean from our lanai. The pool area was very clean and plenty of room for everyone. The bed in the bedroom was very comfortable and the air conditioning refreshing. We used the snorkel sets which were perfect for us. The kitchen area was small but had plenty if dishes, utensils and food preparation tools for a vacation stay. A few things that would have been nice to have provided were a few more seasonings beyond salt and pepper, a small cooler for drinks and snack for the pool or beach. The pull out bed needs a better mattress and a washable mattress pad. The mattress was very uncomfortable for our not so particular 11 year old. The mattress was covered with hair, dust and dry skin from multiple uses. We had to vacuum it off and hope for the best. We enjoyed staying in this unit which became our home away from home for a week.

This was a nice unit in an older complex. The ocean front view was great and the pool was very relaxing. Our friends have a timeshare at the Billfisher across the street so the location was perfect. We do hope the city does something to revitalize the town. It needs some work!! But overall a nice trip!

Nicely updated unit very comfortable for 2 people. Terrific ocean and sunset views from the lanai. The title floors were quite dirty and required us to sweep and mop when we checked in. The beach chairs provided are in need of replacing as they are worn out.

Being ocean front, the floors do get dirtier quicker than others, especially when the sliders are open or when you go out to the lanai and back in. The Lanai is Perfect

Thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The Lanai is perfect and our 11 year old enjoyed spending hours in the tide pools right out front of the property. Pool and hot tub were clean and comfortable and covered parking was a bonus since we had a downpour for the first two days. Would highly recommend for families or couples!!

Fantastic View

This is a beautiful condo, with a fantastic view. I could watch my Husband surf out front while I poured coffee in the kitchen. Neat to hear the conch blowing in the evening. Close to town, we walked to the Christmas parade. My only complaint is that the TVs did not work for the first 2.5 days. We called and they said they would fix it that day. They did not. We called the next day again. They finally came and fixed it, but we were bummed we had to spend vacation time on several phone calls to get it fixed. Otherwise, this place is great.

Beautiful View from Lanai

We got to the condo in the late evening and were greeted with that beautiful view from the lanai and the sound of the waves crashing into the rocks. Such a great introduction to Kona. You can watch the turtles and surfers right from the lanai. The condo itself is nice and had everything we needed. There were camping chairs, beach towels and a beach mat. There were no beach chairs, umbrella or boogie boards so make sure to grab some at Costco if needed. The pool and hot tub were nice and there were lots of bbqs available. It is a 15 minute walk to town and dinning options which was nice. There is a small beach right next door but the waves and rocks make it not a swimming beach. There are a number of beaches around the area that you can drive to. Our trip highlights were snorkeling at Two Step, zip lining and the night Manta Ray swim! Overall great experience and would stay again.

Literally 30 Feet from the Ocean

We would rate the Kona Reef as one of the nicest, best located of all the places we have stayed in kailua kona, Hawaii. Our place looked exactly like it does in the pictures. It's literally 30 feet from the ocean with the Honi beach next door . It was cozy, decorated with very nice island touches, quiet and super clean with everything we needed to feel at home. It was an easy 5 minute walk to many restaurants and shops. Plenty of parking and communication was great too. Kona Coast's regular follow up leading up to our stay was filled with clear instructions to find the place. Instructions on how to use the smart TV and Wifi logon were greatly appreciated. We would highly recommend this wonderful place to stay.

I really enjoyed my stay. The location was close to everything in Kona and you can't beat the views. This place is right on the ocean. You just walk outside and you are right there. Everything I needed, including soap, detergent, towels, dishes, bedding, cutlery, etc was provided. The place was clean and when it got humid the AC worked great. Right next door, less than a minute walk away, there's Honl's Beach. I would definitely stay here again.

Everything about the property is just as pictured. It was the perfect location. The view of the ocean is amazing. Close to restaurants and shopping, was able to walk and avoid parking hassles. I could have sat on the lanai forever! Everything was very nice. Bed was extremely comfortable.

We had a wonderful stay! You cannot beat the location of the condo. We were right at the edge of the beach and walking distance to town. We hardly watched any TV with that spectacular lanai. Relaxing Trip

We really enjoyed our stay at the Kona Reef. The accommodations were great for us with ocean view, nice condo, AC (if needed) quiet and walking distance to Kona. The pool area was very nice as well. The sunsets were spectacular even through the clouds a couple of evenings. Great relaxing trip. Aloha & Mahalo until the next time we visit Hawaii.

We stayed three weeks and were very pleased. We frequently stay three or more weeks and in the past, we have only had enough supplies for one week. I mentioned this last year and we were well supplied. Whenever we called about a problem we were having, they immediately took care of it for us.

Sunsets are Magnificent

My wife and I just spent our third trip to the big island in Kona Reef at this condo. We were familiar enough with the Condo Complex because we stayed at another garden ocean front last year. It would be hard to criticize a condo so nicely adorned as this. The oceans almost splash into the condo, or at least it feels so. The sunsets are so magnificent at this location, along with the pool, BBQ, and setting, you can't go wrong. Everything was really nice and even minor issues were taken care of efficiently by the rental agency staff.

Short Walk to Town

This unit has proximity to the water and to the town... just a short walk to about anything. Our time in the unit was a bit compromised by the power failing to the neighborhood for a day - not the property's fault - but a delightful stay other than that. Breakfast on the Lanai was a high point of the day!

This was our first trip to Kona and we really enjoyed our stay. The condo was very clean, had so many kitchen necessities and really felt like a little home in Kona. It was great to leave the car in the parking garage and just walk to town for shopping and dinner. I highly recommend this rental, you will not be disappointed, unless you have a thing about tropical decor. Then you probably shouldn't be in Hawaii either, Lol!

You could not beat the view or The wonderful location of this unit. It was convenient to everything you would want to go to! We really enjoyed eating breakfast out on the patio each morning watching the sunrise and the early surfers abd bify borders. I highly recommend staying here.

Highly Recommend This Condo!

We spent 10 nights here and it was a great experience! Overall, great value. The condo itself was nice and clean. And most importantly (in my opinion) the bed was very comfortable, on the firm side. A nitpicky thing was that the living area was a little dark outside of daylight hours but not a big deal. Having boogie boards and a solid beach umbrella to use would have been a nice touch but these weren't listed in the amenities so I knew going in they probably weren't going to be there. The condo's location is everything! Nothing can beat being steps away from the ocean. We spent a lot of time out on the lanai listening to the waves crash and watching the surfers. It was really nice to have a fan out there and for the majority of the day you were protected from direct sun. The grounds of the complex itself are a little bleak but the view from the condo's lanai makes up for it! The management company was great! Easy to get ahold of directly and very friendly and helpful. We had to have something mailed overnight and they helped accommodate us. At the same time, I mentioned that the can opener was broken and they just handed me a new one as a replacement which was cool! Would highly recommend this condo. Would definitely stay here again!!

We had to move out to the very edge and beyond a bit because of a bush, but sunset views were lovely. The unit was well stocked and clean, but even cleaner when we left (I can't help myself.). It was a peaceful place, but I have a few minor suggestions that weren't forwarded to the property manager that would make the place even more comfortable if the owner is interested. We very much enjoyed our time there.

The Unit was Perfect!

My husband and I booked a last minute trip to surf and cycle the island. This unit was perfect! We loved it being on the ground level. It essentially extends your lanai onto the grass. Perfect for doing yoga. We cooked dinner every night, sometimes using the many grills on the property. No restaurant experience could beat eating On The lanai watching the sunset. The unit is perfectly situated for someone who doesn't want to be In The noisy section of Kona, but the night action is a short drive/walk. away. The unit was clean. Furnishings a bit dated, but who cares because everything else was perfect! Plenty of towels, linens. The kitchen was fully stocked. We cooked a lot. The can opener wasn't working, so I had to get creative, no biggie. 2 beach chairs, cooler included. AC worked great!!! Washer and drier a must have. The unit was nice and quiet other than the sound of the waves. We can't wait to return. Book this place! You can't go wrong☺️

Property is in a great location! Loved having the ocean at our back door for coffee and happy hour. Had issue with no hot water in shower, they sent someone over first thing the next day to address! Keep bedroom door closed to keep room cool as living area is always on the warm side, even with A/C. Also recommend grabbing a bag of ice as there are no cube trays. Everything else was great, bed and linens comfortable. Would totally recommend.

Kona Coast Vacations was a breeze to work with very friendly & very helpful. We had a couple minor mishaps and they were right there to take care of it! This was the second time staying at Kona Reef, but first time staying in A6 loved this unit just steps from the ocean and right around the corner from the pool area. We also love the short walk to town.

Drinking our morning coffee, watching swimmers, rowing teams, paddle boarders, dolphins and whales is a great way to start the day! The beauty was spectacular from dawn until sunset - wish we were still there! Our unit was first class and the location was perfect. We were super close to downtown with dining and galleries. This location is in our top 5 of favorite places we have visited. Look forward to returning.

Loved that the beach was just out the front door. We ate our meals watching the ocean, beautiful sunsets and turtles play in the waves. The restaurants and shops of Kona are in walking distance, and it's just a short drive from many beaches, snorkeling and boat harbors for arranged excursions.

We stayed in this property for 3,5 weeks, so I´d say I am qualified to share my opinion of this vacation rental. Pluses: - Easy and safe booking with KonaCoastVacation (who have an office in Kona if there's any question, or is just a phonecall away). - The first morning, while drinking coffee on our terrace, just steps away from the ocean, we saw dolphins leaping on the water. AND the last morning, we even saw a humpback whale breeching twice, and slapping its fin - waving goodbye to us! - Steps away from ocean (although you have to be a strong swimmer to go in the ocean here, during winter-season, as there is some pretty big waves at times, and reef just below the surface). - Easy access to pool area, since the apartment is on the ground floor - so you can just walk around the corner to cool off, and then go back to your patio to warm back up again in the sun! - Full kitchen with everything you need, and the complex has gas-grilles for your convenience, if you would like to grill some steaks one night, or all of the nights. - There´s aircon both in livingroom and bedroom - even though you don't strictly need it in Hawaii, it is a nice feature. - Walking distance to Kona-restaurants! - Free indoor parking, so your car is still cool getting into it, and not scorching hot from staying in the sun. - If you're staying for a longer period, this place has a washer-dryer, so you can bring less clothes, wash them, and then have more space for macadamias and kona-coffe on your way home! Minuses: - The cleaning of the place did leave someting to be desired. Especially in those hard to reach places, like behind the bed-table, tv, etc. But it wasn't dirty, just dusty! Would I ever stay here again or recommend to anyone going to Kona? Yes and yes!

Nicely appointed with a great location

The unit was nicely decorated and clean. The bed was very comfortable. However we had an issue with the a/c in the bedroom not working. The maintenance man Bill was very accommodating and brought some fans. However it took to the middle of our stay to fix the a/c since we were waiting on a part. The management company did everything they could for us. In particular Amy, Mckenzie, and Bill went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The location was near to town and we enjoyed eating at Island Lava Java a number of times during our stay. (if you are going to eat there more than once I recommend joinng their loyalty club for discounts) We were able to do a manta night dive and a shore dive down by the City of Refuge before things were affected by Hurricane Lane. I would definitely recommend this unit to someone looking for a place to stay in Kona.

The condo itself was really nice and well equipped. The views are stunning because you are just a few feet away from the ocean. The property was clean and well maintained, the equipment (kitchen, etc) was good, so we could enjoy our time there from the beginning. Next to the condo is a nice little beach (1 minute walking distance), it also takes only a couple of minutes to get to shopping/dining area of Kona. The community areas of the resort were also well maintained. I can strongly recommend this condo, it will be difficult to find anything better in Kona.

The condo was located in a FANTASTIC area, would highly recommend the location. You are close enough to walk downtown or step out onto the beach. Condo is updated but there was a muskie smell that lasted for a couple days, probably from the condo being closed up for awhile. There were items to borrow such as: Coolers, boggie boards, beach towels, beach chairs, shade umbrella and a snorkel mask plus other items. The pool and hot tube is very close as well. Overall, I would stay here again and yes I would recommend this place.

This place is a great value. Very close to the restaurants and shops of Kona, and a short drive from Captain Cook, another cool spot to check out. Loved having the beach waves right out the front door. The only (small) complaint I had was that the shower head was in need of cleaning from some mold (understandable in the Hawaii humidity) but other than that the place was great and would highly recommend!

Great Location and Amazing View

My husband and I were very pleased with our stay at Kona Reef A6. We enjoyed breakfast on the lanai every morning and you can't ask for a better place to enjoy the sunset. The condo was stocked with any dishes and furniture we needed. The bed was very comfortable and the bedroom was quiet. I was a bit concerned about the privacy as A6 is on the lower level. There was some foot traffic on the lawn, but nothing of concern. It was very convenient to be able to access the lawn and nearby beach without having to take stairs. Kona Reef was a very quiet and clean property. The condo was very convenient to downtown Kona and we were able to easily and safely walk to restaurants and check out the sites. We traveled all over the island during our stay and Kona Reef A6 was a perfect home base for our time on the Big Island.

Overall it was a nice, clean condo unit.

Condo worked good for us. Very close to everything in Kona. We walked from the condo to the waterfront area where there are lots of restaurants. The condo was as advertised and had everything needed for our stay. It is a middle unit, so it is a little dark inside. The only thing that did not work was the fan out on the lanai. That would have been nice to have on the warm, humid days. Looks like it needs a complete replacement on the fan. A/C worked good, but as a note to the owners - putting your units under the counter/bamboo on the lanai is killing the units ability to move the air and will eventually cause a premature failure of the unit. This coming from the HVAC guy with our group. He is one of the largest installers of Daikins in the US. Pool was nice and hot tub was hot. BBQ area looked nice. We did not use it but several others were cooking out there. There is plenty of parking. We would stay here again.

Lovely oceanfront ground level unit; perfect!

Spent a great week in this 1 bedroom ground level oceanfront unit. Fabulous location on the ocean and easy walking access to all the shops & restaurants along the Kona waterfront. Unit was clean, modern, well maintained and nicely decorated. Great AC in bedroom and living room. First evening on arrival, we could not get the large sliding patio door open. Kona Coast promptly sent out a service man who opened it with a heavy pull and lubed up the track as the door was stuck in grooves that had been worn in the frame over time. Being ocean front these large doors also get a little sticky over time. Worked fine for the rest of our stay. The only suggestion I would leave is to replace or discard the 2 folding portable beach chairs as they are quite threadbare and don't actually work anymore. We loved this unit and location of the Kona Reef and will be back! Date of Stay: 11/11/17 to 11/18/17

Stayed at Kona Reef in November and returned again in May Different condo, this was in better condition than the last one. Kona Reef is a great location for walking to Kona. Parking is not always easy so this is better. Hoping to return again soon!!

This condo and this location were a perfect combo for a great getaway. Ocean front with view, beautiful grass out front and proximity to the pool was awesome. The suite it self was pretty well stocked, the décor good for that Hawaiian feel. Pot light with dimmers throughout the home added a nice ambiance for relaxing. Surprisingly quiet for condo complex. Walkable to 'downtown' Kailua which was great. Parking always available (find where you condo is and usually easy to park close). We loved staying here. Would go back again.
