Overall, a fantastic spot if what you’re looking for is an oceanfront and great access to town with shops and restaurants a short walk away. It’s a modest property that could use a little updating but it has everything you’ll need (including a room fan to help the cooler living room air reach the warm bedroom) for a beautiful Kona vacation. Our 10 day stay @ Kona Reef D-37 was wonderful. We loved being here. Comfortable unit with everything we needed. Beautiful… amazing view. Good A/C in the living room. Great ceiling fan in the bedroom. Washer and dryer in the unit makes arriving home so much easier. No laundry to do after a long trip. Location was perfect. Close to everything. Check-in was easy. Parking was great. So appreciative of the owners making this available. We loved it here!!

My week at Kona Reef was a wonderful experience. I felt safe and comfortable every minute there as a solo traveler. The very best feature of D37 is the ocean front lanai with the constant sight and sound of ocean waves. It’s a convenient location for walking proximity to restaurants and shopping.

Place was Nice

The place was nice. The view is great. I would make a suggestion to the owner to maybe purchase some plastic plates or something so you can have dinner down at the bbq area since they don’t allow glass. The main bed and the fold out bed are horrible and should be replaced. The runner carpets in hallway and kitchen are in desperate need of cleaning. Only other suggestion would be some nice beach chairs and a usable ice chest would be nice. For the cost of rental I think they could afford more than a styrofoam ice chest. Overall a great place to stay.

This condo is amazing. Great location, beautiful view and wonderful accommodations. Two flaws - the elevator smells funny and the trash is a long way away for drop off -- okay, three flaws-- really hard to leave (but is that really a flaw?)!! This condo is really great. They had pretty much every thing we needed. If we get to go back to the Big Island I wouldn't hesitate to try and secure this condo for another stay.

The resort is great, right on the Ocean. Pool and nice BBQ area. The unit itself is great, and the kitchen have all you need. They also have beach stuff; chairs, wave boards, snorkling, cooler. The lanai is fantastic. The view, and sounds of waves crashing to the rocks. I spent many sunsets there. It's also close to Kona with all dining and shopping. I always have a rental car. Short drives to the best beaches (Kukio - great for snorkling, Manini beach).

Great location. The homeless camp at the driveway is an eye sore. The bedroom carpet was disgusting. Looks like blood or wine stains. Bed was comfortable. Great views. Close to town. Comfy furniture. Have to take stairs after the elevator. Had problem with management Co. Sending us an email saying we smoked in the unit. Took time to straighten that out. It was meant for previous guest.

I literally did hours of research before deciding on this property and was not disappointed! I chose this property because of the amazing view and its proximity and walking distance into town. The management company and check in process was flawless. They did a great job communicating ahead of time and answered all of my questions. The condo is exactly as described and the view is absolutely breathtaking. We enjoyed watching the surfers and were able to enjoy the sunset right from our balcony. I don't think there is a spot in town that has a better view. The location of the condo was perfect walking distance into town for a drink, shops and lots of restaurants. Also Loved that we were right next-door to a small beach

Our stay in this location was great! The view from the balcony was so beautiful! We spent a lot of time enjoying the view and the sound of the ocean. The condo was comfortable and in a great location. Walking distance to downtown Kona and convenient to all the sights on this side of the Island.

We greatly enjoyed our stay at the Kona Reef. It was a quick walk to downtown Kona and the views from our lanai were so beautiful! We saw surfers everyday, paddle boarders, parasails, and every size of boat from kayaks to a cruise ship. My only recommendation would be to add a mattress topper to the bed as it is a bit too firm.

Beautiful view great property The unit D 37 was great he was awesome my only complaint was they were doing construction on the pool it was closed all the walkways to the pool were closed and we made the reservation we were not informed by anybody from the county coast management to VRBO

Being on the fourth floor and ocean front you can hear the waves crashing, you can almost reach out and touch the water!! Also you can watch amazing sun set from lanai.The unit is dated but clean. The air conditioning wasn't working properly it just blowing hot air, our first day and night there were miserable, we called property management the next day, they changed out brand new AC within 4 hours, that was awesome!! The rest of our stay was great!! Just wish they are a little flexible with checking out time in case your flight got delayed like ours.

We stayed in Unit D37 at the Kona Reef Condominiums and give it a five-star rating. The check-in process with directions was very easy and all information for the condo was provided ahead of time, as well as in a book at the unit. The unit was decorated in true "island style". It was so relaxing! The view from the lanai was absolutely breathless! We enjoyed many relaxing times gazing out and were even so fortunate as to see the "green flash" one night at sunset. The kitchen was well stocked for the most enthusiastic chef and provided everything one could ask for from bath towels, to chairs, to umbrellas. It was a comfortable and absolutely lovely home-away-from-home. Thank you for sharing it with us! We hope to return one day!

Thought this place was great. Only a 5+ minute walk to a bunch of restaurants and 10 minutes to the heart of Kona. Beautiful view, good customer service, etc. The unit itself isn't super fancy, but it's clean and comfortable. The pool area is pretty good as well, and was never busy when we were there.

Conveniently Located!

Very conveniently located: many restaurants, Honl's Beach and Kailua Pier in walking distance. Due to the ocean breeze the condo felt surprisingly cool at 84 degrees F daytime highs, even without us running the A/C. We especially liked swimming, snorkeling, kayaking around Kailua Pier. Honl's Beach is closer but rocky and thus was not easy to get in to for our 6 year old. Our 6 year old loved the pool though.

Stunning view and crashing waves

This property is so well located, just a short walk to the restaurants and shops on Ali's drive. The condo is right on the ocean and we saw dolphins and whales from the balcony. It also is perfect for watching the sunset in the evening. There is ample parking, the suite has a washer and dryer. The linens were very clean. We mostly cooked only breakfasts and the kitchen was well appointed. There were beach chairs, an umbrella and beach towels which we really appreciated. It is not a 5 star all inclusive resort but we wanted a place that we could make a comfortable home base that wasn't pretentious and this was perfect along with a stunning view and crashing waves. We really enjoyed to stay this ocean view unit! We sit in balcony and watched whales and dolphins in the open ocean and it was very nice experience for us and made our holidays more wonderful. Very well managed vacation unit: clear instruction with greeting from the company in the first night, equipped a lot necessary items even chairs for beach use, clean room and much more. The location is excellent. We walked in the streets at nights. We will stay this unit again if we come to the Big island in the future. Date of Stay: 1/6/18 to 1/9/18

The location for this condo is excellent but feel that the renovation that was started in the washroom should be continued into the kitchen. Found that kitchen and items in kitchen were a bit grubby and dated, stick free pans were scratched, toaster and coffee pot had seen better days. Carpet on the floor of the main living area was also a bit dirty and not ideal in a vacation rental. Location made you almost overlook these items but feel that owners should put a little money back into maintaining this condo.

Really nice one bedroom condo with an incredible view!! Very close to all the shops and restaurants. Very nice pool, hot tub, and area to grill food. Unit has AC which we used at night to sleep better (we went May/June) Loved eating dinner on the lanai to the sounds of the waves crashing on the rocks.
