My wife and I had the privilege of staying at the Island Villas unit K1 in early April of 2016.
It exceeded our expectations as it came complete with three massive king bedrooms all with their own deluxe ensuite. An upper floor office/workspace with an amazing handcrafted desk for those days where a bit of work follows you to the Island. A generous living/eating area with more space than you can use with doors opening from two locations to your private lanai.
Modern kitchen outfitted with all the amenities of home and more for those days when you want to be creative with the Island fare and eat at home. Double driveway for parking a vehicle should you decide you need one but with everything in walking distance you could honestly survive without one.
Within close walking distance: An independent, well stocked, reasonably priced grocery store. A shopping centre with almost everything you may need including some of Hawaiis best coffee. Several excellent restaurants. An amazing spa/healthclub.
We gave this facility an in-depth tour and came away with this: A great lane/lap pool, a deluxe cardio workout area with plenty of the newest machines out there. A fully stocked weight area, 6 tennis courts, and a spa and massage area where they can do inside or outside completely private treatments. A spectacular facility to say the least, and just two minutes walk. The three beaches of Mauna Lani are in walking distance and will take you through an area of an old lava flow and fish ponds. Pictures simply do not do these views justice.
The Beach: We are fans of the beach for several reasons, and Mauna Lani has three terrific beaches, we primarily used the one closet to the beach club parking. This one has great, beach-water access, has an excellent swimming area and offers amazing snorkelling. I have snorkelled all over the world, and for ease and access, this beach offers a variety of sea life second to none, and in a quiet bay where even the youngest or least experienced snorkeler will fall in love with this place.
The Golf: Two amazing golf courses, we played: the North course twice and the South course once. I love the contrast of blue skies, brilliant green fairways and the black lava that the courses have been carved into, but the most breathtaking golf holes I have ever seen are located on the back nines of both courses. Some par 3 holes, a couple that are carved along the ocean that you could never tire of looking at. I look forward to playing both of these spectacular courses again and again.
It is my sincere intention to make a vacation at the Islands K1 Villa at Mauna Lani a must do every year from now on. It is a beautiful home away from home.

Our experience with Kona Coast Vacations exceeded all of our expectations! Not only was Mauna Lani Island K1 a superior accommodation in every way, the team at Kona Coast was always available to answer our every question, from the time we booked our holiday through our stay. I was very impressed with the timely communications to support our island holiday vacation planning with the introduction to a local Concierge (David -awesome!) who helped us book extracurricular activities. We received resources to ensure we could easily find our way from the airport to the destination and even the opportunity to use an app where all additional resources that would help us with our stay could be found. Maps, things to do, the guidelines for the gated community etc. We didn't have to worry about a thing! They were in contact with us every step of the way, pre, during and post vacation to ensure we had a seamless and memorable experience. When an issue arose with a malfunctioning dryer, they were on it immediately, dispatching a repair man, who diagnosed the situation and ultimately resolved the issue very quickly with a complete machine replacement. This demonstrated to us the great relationship between the owner and Kona Coast to ensure our stay wasn't interrupted negatively. They even dropped by with fresh linens and towels and offered to take care of laundry while we waited for the machine to be replaced. Exceptional care and service, always with a smile, a solution when needed and super follow through. We wouldn't hesitate to return to this fantastic resort destination and K1 property. Thanks for making our island stay so memorable. Mahalo.

We loved this place including the location and the added amenities such as the tennis centre. It is a short walk through the beautiful fish ponds to the beach and the pool was very quiet even though it was the busy holiday season. The set up with 3 master bedrooms was perfect for our family with adult children. We can't wait to go back.

Definitely Want to Return

This place lived up to its billing. We wanted a place where we could walk to the private beach. Beautiful walk took 15 - 17 minutes. I wanted private lanai's where we could sit outside. We ate outside and sat out there during the day. We wanted space. This place had plenty of it. It was clean. Kitchen was well stocked. Bathrooms were gorgeous. Hung out in the comfortable living room. Price was steep, but we had no complaints and would definitely return. We used the athletic facility as well. We hung out at the beach, used the chairs furnished as part of the townhouse. I highly recommend this townhouse. We definitely want to return.

Our group of 3 couples had a wonderful 10 day stay at Mauna Lani Islands K1! From the reservation process with Kona Coast Vacations, to prompt communication throughout, to excellent arrival information and then our stay-all was excellent! This was our second vacation at K1 and it was just as we remembered 2 years ago- fantastic! The townhouse is situated an easy 100 feet from the shared pool where there is lots of area to enjoy the sun and umbrellas for those who like shade. The unit itself is beautiful and just as pictured and described! The kitchen is well stocked with incidentals like spices, kitchen wrap, paper towels, lots of dishes and glasses, a blender, etc. The 3 king bedrooms are spacious, with lots of storage and huge en suites. The beach club is an easy walk along a great paved walkway and takes about 15 mins. K1 has beach toys, boogie boards and a wagon to help carry things to the beach. All I can say is do not hesitate to book this vacation home for an awesome stay in Kona!

Great stay. Kona coast did lots to make sure we were taken care of by trying to get us in a little early to enquiring how everything was and responding to issues - smelly garage and where is trash dumpster. House was lovely and high end. Facilities, remodeling and furniture included. All loved the walk in showers and I loved the flower hedge in master bedroom obviating the need for curtains. All washing necessities were supplied including washing machine and dishwasher. Thank you.

We rent through you freqently. Great accommodation as always, clean and well supplied. Directions to access were clear. Access to fitness center was great addition. Appreciated having cocktail martini glasses, which has been missing in all previous rentals. Beach towels were inadequate. On all other accasions we have been provided several high quality, full length hotel style beach towels. K1 only provided half a dozen small token towels that come free with purchases at the Wiakaloa food mart…..we have collected many over the years! Instruction on location of garbage drop off could have been clearer.

As for beach towels... the nice thick fluffy spa towels just aren't conducive to an eco friendly laundry facility, they take forever to dry and use up tons of electricity. We thought a nice compromise was the cute local style ones that EVERYONE has a few of. I know for me personally, when I travel I bring my big soft Costco bath sheets with me.

We address the directions for the trash, thank you so much for bringing it to our attention.

We really enjoyed this house. The neighborhood was quiet and clean. The house was exactly as the listing showed and very well equipped. The bedrooms are all equal and very comfortable. We had fun visiting the resorts nearby for dinner and golf but also cooked at the house in the well stocked kitchen.

This large, beautiful house/condo is in an excellent location on the Big Island. The setting is quiet, it is near a fantastic walking path, has access to a beach club with excellent snorkeling and is close to a shopping area with a good grocery store. The property manager was helpful and responsive and the house was well-equipped. My only complaint is that vehicles must be garaged and a remote garage door opener was not provided. Only one car fits in the garage so if a group has more than one, extra cars have to be parked outside the gated area (the equivalent of 2-3 blocks away).

This property is beautiful, the online photos don't do it justice. Very comfortable for 5 adults and one child. The kitchen has everything you would need. We were very pleased with all the kitchen had stocked. Very impressive. the one area of improvement would be towels. Each bathroom has 3 small bath towels and there weren't any extra, so we washed more frequently than we would've liked and we had to purchase our own laundry detergent. There are only six beach towels and they are small. But we would absolutely stay here again. We had a wonderful time. The walking trails are great! Proximity to grocery and shops:restaurants is very convenient. We had a lovely vacation!!

Best stocked vacation rental home we have experienced. Plenty of cleaning supplies, paper products, soaps, etc. Plus beach chairs, umbrellas and boogie boards to borrow. Beach is a 20min walk or 5 min drive. Be aware of Ironman Triathalon road closures during October.

Wonderful Time

We had a wonderful time at the K1 house in Mauna Lani. I have previously stayed at rental homes that looked great and had 5 star reviews but were not wonderful. This is not that place. It was exactly as described or better. They had everything you could need in the kitchen, and even little things made life so much easier (ie ziplock baggies, tin foil, laundry and dish detergent). We didn't have one complaint! Loved the chairs and beach stuff to use (wagon, umbrella, boogie boards). It was a fabulous location and the Mauna Lani beach club was so fun! We didn't even have to bring chairs there bc there were chairs available. And it was a great snorkel beach. I think we will just stay here from now on, it was perfect.

The home is beautiful on all levels... furnishings, artwork and setting. The 3 ensuite layout was ideal for three couples. The location is walkable to the Mauna Lani Resort, which we did each morning for coffee and a walk on the beach. The property management company was terrific as well. Absolutely loved this home—elegant, spacious, and even more beautiful than the pictures. Multiple outdoor spaces to sit and enjoy the beautiful lawn, trees, and wildlife out the back. Truly appreciated the ability to use the sand toys, chairs, umbrellas, etc available in the garage. We had everything we needed. Only warning—for gym users, the gym nearby is an additional $250 per person per week. We opted and enjoyed hiking and running. Loved our stay!

This was one of the most wonderful vacations I've ever had. The condo exceeded our expectations. Great location, wonderfully appointed and exceptionally clean. This place was awesome. Great yard for the kids and plenty of room for all 5 of us. Very kid friendly and the pool is right next door. Access to the private beach and super close to the market. We are staying next year for sure!

We have stayed at multiple Airbnb homes and we can say without a doubt that this property has the most efficient and well stocked kitchen. We truly lacked nothing! So many cupboards are labeled which is extremely helpful in a large space like this one. Also, the bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious and the decor in the entire unit is beautiful. Lastly, the landscaping throughout the entire community is impeccably kept. We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend this property.

We stayed at The Islands K1 at Mauna Lani on the big island. This unit was exquisite! It was exactly how it looked in the pictures. The unit was stocked with everything you needed to enjoy the condo as well as the island. They went above and beyond our expectations. It was like staying in 5 star luxury hotel but with the convenience of a kitchen. The unit was also very clean when we arrived. Thank you for sharing this beautiful home with us.

We've been renting properties on the Big Island since 1999, and this two-story town home at The Islands, a low-density development in Mauna Lani, is one of the best. The unit has been extensively and beautifully updated/upgraded, is very close to the BBQ/pool area and looks out on a huge expanse of lawn, plants and trees. The furniture and art work are tasteful throughout, and the kitchen is stocked with every imaginable small appliance, as well as plenty of stemware, flatware, crockery, and pots and pans. The rental company, Kona Coast Vacations, was excellent; staff responded immediately to all communication and addressed a couple of minor issues at check-in promptply and professionally.

This was the second time we've enjoyed staying at the K1 villa. The first time (two years ago) was very enjoyable, but this year, after substantial renovations to the unit, our stay was thoroughly enjoyed by all five of us in the new luxurious setting. This place has all the amenities one can ask for on a Hawaiian vacation, including a variety of close by beaches, a swimming pool, shops and other tourist attractions.

This is an incredible home/condo. Any family would be happy here, or even a 'couples' vacation. We will definitely be back to this property in the future. Extremely nice, well maintained, clean and updated. You pretty much have 3 huge master bedrooms and an amazing living space. This property is close to the beach with great access to the Mauna Lani Beach Club. Only negative was that the community pool was closed during the month of May. This was a surprise to us, but the owner was very gracious in working it out for us. The pool area looks amazing, and I'm sure when it re-opens it will take this property from 5-Stars to 6..! (If only we could give it 6.) This was our first big family vacation to Hawaii and this property really helped make it special for us.

This was our first time staying at this unit and it won't be our last. The condo was in fantastic shape and had all the amenities that we needed. The beds were comfy and most importantly, everything was very clean (from the unit to the linens) and we couldn't have asked for more. It's very close to the pool which is great, and the ability to access the beach club was amazing. The beach club especially was a huge hit with our child, who is young and still getting used to the ocean. The snorkling was great there too, since the waters are so calm. We had a great trip and we're looking forward to coming back again soon.

We had a wonderful time staying at this amazing vacation rental with some great friends. We had high expectations from the pictures provided, but the house was even more beautiful in person. We realized quickly that this was not your typical rental. Everything inside the property looked brand new and high quality, from the furniture to the appliances. Having 3 master suites and a large common area, made traveling with friends easy. The suites were large and comfortable, but the showers in each attached bath, added a luxurious bonus that cannot be forgotten. In addition to being nicely furnished, the homeowner has provided all of the small details, from a well stocked kitchen to all the necessary daily amenities. Being within walking distance to amazing beaches, golf, shopping, and restaurants made the trip even more enjoyable. The community pool (with a waterfall and spa) is located right next to the property, and also provides a small kitchen and a couple large gas BBQs to grill on. We loved the option of going on adventures or just relaxing at this beautiful property. Staying at this rental made our vacation so much more enjoyable and relaxing. We definitely will not be staying at a hotel on the Big Island ever again! We cannot wait to go back!! Date of Stay: 7/11/17 to 7/18/17

I stayed at K1 in April 2017. I took my two adult daughters with me. We were the second guests to stay after the major renovation. I saw the before pictures and even toured another unit while I was there and K1 was totally transformed from a 1980s decore into a clean spacious and contemporary look and layout. The bathrooms, especially the walk in showers, were most impressive. Each bedroom with a king bed and its own ensuite was truly a treat for us!
It was easy to feel like home in the villa. Every amenity was provided: fridge condiments, shampoo, conditioner, body wash. Even bathrobes! Thought and care was put into this rental and it showed.
KCV were great in communicating with us before, during and after our stay.
The Islands pool complex was a great way to spend quiet time after a day at the beach. The pool is free form and meanders; landscaped with lush Hawaiian greenery and lava rock featuring a waterfall and grotto. The 10 person jetted spa tub is worth a soak at the end of a hard beach day. The modern shaped lounge chairs with large umbrellas makes for a great place to relax and read a book. The state of the art bbq & kitchen facilities, dining & lounge area is another surprising plus with renting at The Islands and made for a great second social place to gather with friends and family. In the pool area you can host your own pool & bbq party! The pool itself is 200 steps from K1. The pool was rarely occupied. It was like having my own private pool.
I really enjoy the Mauna Lani area. I can stroll over from K1 and get my morning latte and croissant, step into the Foodkand for some groceries and check out the clothing at Tommy Bahamas. Happy hour at Ruth's Chris and Tommy Bahama was popular for us. Tastes bites, refreshing cocktails at great prices. Sunsets were incredible!
I loved the walk to the private beach club on the path through the lava rock and then through the sacred fishing grounds. I found the special place in the fish ponds where you can sit with your feet in the water and the tiny fish nibble the callouses off. The private beach club has a restaurant for lunch and supper and clean and modern washrooms fully accessible by beach patrons.
My daughters and I rented paddle boards at the beach and saw amazing sea life when snorkeling.
We are definitely going to rent again!

A five star, luxurious and well-equipped property in the perfect location. This condo boasts 3 large bedrooms all with gorgeous ensuites and is close to everything (golf, beach, shopping, walking, and more). Spacious and beautifully furnished inside and out, private balconies and lanais onto green space are your private oasis. Private, gated swimming pool steps away. Our stay could not have been better!
