Let’s be upfront about something right off the bat: Foster’s Kitchen is NOT fast food, and they’re very proud of that. This “slow-food” kitchen in Kona Coast offers contemporary local fare that is made from scratch and well worth the wait.
Small Town Cooking, Big Time Flavor
Foster’s Kitchen is one of the best Kona Coast restaurants. They pride themselves on their locally-sourced fresh ingredients and dedication to crafting a diverse menu of sumptuous flavors. This charming open-air casual bistro in the heart of Kailua-Kona wows its diners with inventive dishes sure to make your mouth water. Their mission is to utilize only the freshest local fruits, vegetables, and meats while serving up handmade craft cocktails and incredible dining experience in a comfortable environment. And boy do they succeed. Sure, they recognize their slow-cooking and delicate recipes from scratch might take a little longer to prepare, but we don’t hear any complaints.
A Taste of the Islands
With delicious appetizers like whipped goat cheese bruschetta and Cajun furikake seared ahi, served with a lilikoi ponzu sauce and spicy black bean shoyu, you might not make it to the rest of the menu. But press on and you will be rewarded with an incredible selection of delicious sandwiches, inventive salads featuring local produce, and a wide selection of mouth-watering entrees.
We love the Po’ Boy sandwich made with the fresh catch fish, capers, a herb-lemon butter sauce, and homemade tartar sauce, but you can’t go wrong with their delicious flatbreads or hand-cut pastas either. For entrees, the ribeye steak with the Kona coffee rub is topped with Maui onions and will melt in your mouth, and the daily fresh catch is always expertly prepared and paired with exotic flavors sure to delight.
Menu for the Masses
In addition to offering a delicious sampling of the flavors of Hawai’i thanks to their local ingredients, Foster’s Kitchen has a menu for everyone. Kids will love the chicken tenders, macaroni and cheese, and a selection of other dishes just for them. Vegetarians and those with gluten restrictions will find the menu easy to navigate and offering plenty of delicious options sure to please. Be sure to leave room for dessert as the kitchen pumps out an indulgent selection of freshly baked goodies like the Monkey Bread drizzled in locally made Tahitian Vanilla ice cream, lava cake, and a delectable strawberry puff pastry with vanilla, macadamia nuts, and homemade whipped cream.
