Having stayed at this unit before we knew what to expect. It is very well equipped, and we appreciated the addition of the plastic containers for food storage/leftover purposes. It was very easy to pack a lunch for the day and an environmentally friendly alternative to plastic wrap. The cooler in the unit and freezer packs were awesome. The unit has everything anyone needs to enjoy a comfortable stay for any period of time and the complex is extremely well managed, landscaped and controlled. Such a beautiful setting right on the waterfront. The inside of the unit was visibly clean, but we were disappointed that the lanai was covered in sand and there was a fair quantity of bird poop on the railings and tile floor that had not been taken care of. I swept at least 1/4 cup of sand into the dustpan not to mention the rest that we unknowingly tracked into the unit. After a good sweeping of the inside of the unit we found a fair number of dust bunnies left behind previously. It wasn't appreciated that our first morning chore was cleaning the lanai to a useable point. One of the reasons we pay $125 cleaning fee is to have the unit fully clean upon arrival. A suggestion would be to check up on the cleaners. The sound on the TV didn't work upon arrival but my husband was able to diagnose it down to a corroded HDMI cable and rectified the problem. The chain on the toilet broke several times during our stay as well but again being handy we were able to fix that as well. KCV offered great pre arrival information and was easy to work with. They promptly responded to an inquiry email we sent during our stay. Despite a few minor maintenance issues and the cleaning, we thoroughly enjoyed the unit and complex and have plans to return in the future.

We loved staying at 6204 at the Kona Makai! The unit was very spacious and comfortable, equipped with everything we needed! Our favorite thing was the sitting on the lanai, the view of the ocean and grounds was spectacular. The property was very beautiful and quiet! We met many friendly people while down at the barbecue and while watching the sunset. The staff at Kona Coast are always a pleasure to deal with! We are looking forward to going back to this unit next year!

Up to date with a well stocked kitchen

Enjoyed our stay at the Kona Makai. The unit we rented was up to date with a well stocked kitchen, though we didn't really cook as we were there for only a week. This is a great location, just a few minutes from town. The grounds are well maintained and it is a relatively quiet complex. We only had one issue and that was that the floors were dirty. Reported it to the office and she said it would be taken care of. A plus here was the local open air market which is 1/2 mile north. Shaka Tacoz food truck has the best tacos we ever had so we went there almost every day during our stay.

This was a nice rental. Location is ideal. It has air-conditioning in two rooms which is nice. We did have a few issues for maintenance which were dealt with by the maintenance company quite quickly. Only drawback to this place are: the morning light in the master bedroom is very bright, and there’s no curtains or ability to make the room dark in the mornings. The bed needs to have a replaced mattress and or frame or both. No condiments or other items for cooking so it’s less convenient then other places. Only salt and pepper. Pool closes at 9. Thank you

This property was perfect for my stay on the island. It was clean and had everything we could have needed. The grounds are beautiful and well kept, the views are stunning (even better than the photos), and the pool and spa were great! It is a very quiet complex, so it made the stay relaxing and enjoyable. Many gather down by the rocks to watch the sunset together! It's a nice 20 minute walk into town and a short 5-10 minute walk to a nearby farmers market, coffee shop, and small market. The property management was wonderful to work with and easy to communicate with. I would definitely stay here again!

We stayed here for several nights and enjoyed every aspect of our stay. The unit was nicely furnished, well stocked with supplies, towels, bedding toiletries etc. It would have been nice to have some squeeze bottle condiments in the refrigerator just so we would not have to buy that. Otherwise, everything Was perfect. We enjoyed the pool, the views and it's convenient location to everything around Kona. We will definitely stay here again

The apartment is in a great location, was very clean, and the view from the deck is wonderful. The kitchen basically has everything you need, and it is really nice having a washer and dryer. The only issues we had was trying to get a key to the tennis courts (which are locked), but once the office opened, we were able to get a key and the tennis courts are wonderful and essentially brand new. We would be happy to stay here again!

We enjoyed our stay in this nicely decorated and comfortable condo. We really appreciated the quick response of the property management company to the malfunctioning air conditioner. The pool and hot tub were relaxing. Wish there were more umbrellas at the pool as it was very hot when we were there and more shade would have been appreciated.

Stayed in Kona Makai 6024. Wonderful condo for 2 with everything in it what you need. Very nice decoration. Nice pool area. Very well maintained condo and surrounding. Only set back: No dining table in the condo and you cannot have breakfast on the lanai (with beautiful sea view!!)...too hot already in the morning unless you eat bevor 8am. Staff at Kona Vacation is as helpful and nice as you can get it. I will book with them any time....and I would stay in this condo again any time despite the mentionned restrection with breakfast.

Right away we loved the Zen decor in the condo. We enjoyed early morning coffee on the lanai, and fell asleep every night listening to the waves. The condo itself was nicely appointed, and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We noticed that the community and camaraderie of many of the guests made us feel so at home. We enjoyed getting to know the regulars who come there. The grounds are beautifully landscaped , and the maintenance people obviously care very much for doing their jobs, and are so friendly. Kona Makai 6204 was a wonderful choice for our recent Hawaiian vacation. The property is perfectly situated within walking distance to Kailua Kona and nearby beaches offer great variety. The complex offers amazing ocean and sunset views and is well cared for with excellent facilities including a saltwater swimming pool, ping pong table and fitness facility. The unit is well cared for, up to date and contains everything you need to enjoy your stay including kitchen amenities and beach gear. Onsite property management is very diligent in daily maintenance and the well cared for facility shows beautifully.

We loved the peace and quiet of the condo. We really appreciated that! The actual condo is perfect. Comfortable, quiet and fully stocked. It has every single thing we needed. Now.... The amazing sunsets from the lanai were the highlight of this condo!! SPECTACULAR!!!! I think I may have over 200 pictures on my phone of the sunsets from the lanai. Funny story.... There was an open house here at one of the condos. We are actually looking into buying one! We just loved the complex and how will it was kept, the location... Wow!

Relaxing and quiet vacation

My husband and I stayed 8 days at the Kona Makai 6-204 in May 2016. Our stay there was excellent. Having a separate bedroom for husband to sleep late with nice a/c running made us both happy campers. I get up early and was able to close the bedroom door, make my coffee in the fully equipped kitchen, and then enjoy waking up on the lanai drinking my coffee and admiring the ocean views and listening to the tropical sounds of the birds. I am a people watcher so it was fun to watch other early riser's on their lanais as well as watch the people in the pool and hot tub. The maintenance crew does get started around 9am but they didn't disturb my husband as the bedrooms are in the back and with the a/c going you don't hear the noise. The pool and hot tub are clean and well maintained. We really enjoyed them both. We barbequed on the grills by the ocean terrace three different nights and that area is well kept and clean. I would highly recommend staying in this rental. It was hard to say goodbye and we plan on coming back to stay again our next visit!

Perfect unit in a perfect location!

This unit was amazing! My girlfriend and I stayed here for a week, and we were very sad to leave! Kona makai is a great place to stay in Kona, very lush, beautiful, and well taken care of. As for the unit, it is perfect, has everything you need! The kitchen reno's are very nicely received, and the unit is very well kept and clean. Now onto the best part, the view from the Lanai (balcony)! It is perfect to sit out and have morning coffee, meals, and just hang out when at the unit. We actually saw Dolphins from the property while having our morning coffee one day! Would and will definitely be back here. Thanks again Kona Coast Vacations!

Easy to rent, great location, condo is in excellent condition and a great value. View from the condo is awesome. This is my 3rd time staying in this unit and 20th time at Kona Makai. I would recommend this unit.
