Year-round here are the best snorkeling spots in Kona and the Big Island. For DIY snorkelers, be sure to check out Kahalu‘u Beach Park for easy ocean access and a huge concentration of sea life. La‘aloa Bay Beach on Ali‘i Drive has excellent Kona snorkeling a few hundred yards out to the right. Kamakahonu, also called King Kamehameha Beach is family-friendly and has wonderful reefs hosting a wealth of yellow tangs, wrasses, and Moorish idols.

The best snorkeling on the Kona coast is accessed only by boat, so a snorkel charter is the way to go.
